Bio
Matthew Houstle is a seasoned programmer and projections engineer with over a decade of experience creating memorable electronic spectacles for live performances, permanent installations and more. At ESI Design, an NBBJ studio, in his role as systems designer, he works within the larger multidisciplinary team to define the story and experience at large, then advises on the technology solutions needed to bring the concept to life. Matthew specifies front-end and back-end technology, creates design drawings, and partners with integrators and fabricators on the installation process to ensure that designs meet client expectations.

Matthew has served as a lighting, projections, and video programmer for live theater and musical productions in Boston, New York, and internationally including several Broadway shows such as “Beetlejuice: The Musical,” which featured complex projection mapping on moving scenery.

He has strong systems engineering and networking skills and vast experience working with multiple technical platforms, including disguise, Watchout, Catalyst, QLab and Isadora. In 2021, Matthew was awarded NBBJ’s Innovation Award for Excellence in developing remote work solutions, a testament to his ingenuity.

Matthew studied Electrical and Computer Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Outside of work he enjoys 3D printing and home automation projects.
