Julie Johnston is the director of Learning Spaces, University Information Technology Services (UITS) for Indiana University (IU). She manages three entities of UITS Learning Technologies: Classroom Technology Services, Student Technology Computing, and Technology Computer Consulting. Along with managing these services, she is ultimately responsible for the design of Learning Spaces for the campus, specifically active learning classrooms, informal learning spaces, and student technology center spaces. Johnston was actively involved in assisting with the launch of Indiana University’s new active learning initiative, Mosaic (mosaic.iu.edu). These active learning spaces are purpose-built, and diverse. Julie has worked for more than 20 years in Instructional Technology Leadership positions in higher education and K-12. Due to her interest in learning management systems, she also has been involved in early pilots of ANGEL during its early development on the Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis campus.
